Back from Blighty

Just putting together an album of images from Thursday.

We agreed to do the mid-week wedding, on VERY short notice, as a favour to a dear friend. Normally we like to meet with the bride and groom, the officiant, the wedding planner…etc and all…and share expectations well in advance. We met this couple the day before the wedding and was pretty much given carte blanche.

“I trust you,” the bride told us. The groom just said “Whatever she says.”

We were a little worried. It’s all good and ego boosting to have someone put that kind of confidence in you - and to be honest we DO tend to use our discretion and make executive decisions when we’re ‘in the moment’ - but having someone just put it all out there right up front - yikes!

We scoped out the church and tried to imagine how the ceremony would go down - we’re use to going to rehearsals but there was none. We knew our biggest problem was going to be lighting because the ceiling was just too high and the chandeliers were just too small. We were right.

It rained the next day, but other than that, and an excited aunt-of-the-bride who gave my camera arm a nice firm squeeze right in the middle of ‘the kiss’, everything went ok. And the photos - despite the light and the aunt and the no rehearsal - were some of our best yet.
